Baseball cards are interesting objects.  They are inherently nostalgic totems of American culture, as well as time capsules of the aesthetic trends of their time.  Paintings function much in the same way, though we hesitate to place them as objects of the same category.  In graduate school, I painted a series of baseball cards in an attempt to explore this dichotomy.  Successful or not, I enjoyed the process.  There is still a lot more I'd like to revisit in this series, both as a painter, and a student.
